Break away from the cold sandwich routine with these tips for better lunches!

Spice up lunches with color

Bright colors are the easiest way to increase the “wow” factor in a lunch.  We are visual creatures and by adding a variety of colors it will make lunch a fun activity instead of something mundane and tedious.  Lunch can be fun, inviting and, better yet, nutritious when those bright colors come from foods like carrots, cucumbers, blueberries, cherry tomatoes and strawberries.

Give Variety

Pack at least three different types of food every day.  Think of the lunchbox as you would a meal on a plate.  You want to incorporate protein, complex carbs, fresh produce and a treat.  Invest in a lunch box with separate reusable compartments so you can see all of your food.  It will make you feel like you packed a lot even if you only packed a light lunch.

Think finger foods

When you are at the lunch table you are probably enjoying some non-work time with your coworkers; making lunch a social occasion.  Think of the foods that are served at parties, that mentality can be used when creating a lunch.  You should be packing foods that can be snacked on so you can still socialize.  Sugar snap peas, cut up vegetables, ect. all make great additions to a lunch and are easy to eat.

These are just some tips to get you started with making better lunches, keep checking back for more ideas.  Great food changes everything.
