Melons are a reliable source of dietary fiber, vitamin K, and many more vitamins and minerals your body benefits from. Melons are also exceptionally low in sodium, saturated fats, and cholesterol.
Eating melons is another fantastic way to stay hydrated. When you think of hydration, the first thing that probably comes to mind is water. However, to effectively and appropriately hydrate, your body needs more than that — it also needs electrolytes. Melons are about 80 to 90% water and contains electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium, some sodium, and calcium.
This combination of water and nutrients makes melons great for hydrating after a workout, or if you’re just trying to stay hydrated throughout your warm summer day.
